SUMMARY:Evidence at the Center: Research\, Evaluation\, and the Future of Housing-Health Integration
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will focus on populations with complex care needs\, integrated care models\, behavioral health care\, and Medicaid waivers to ground our thought leadership series in the strongest available evidence on housing and health care. Through a conversation with leading researchers\, we’ll examine how the fields of housing and health can better align to improve outcomes for our communities. The session will also look ahead\, highlighting critical research gaps and key questions that must be addressed to advance the future of housing–health integration.\n  \nModerator\n\n\n\nStephanie Mercier\, Director of Strategy\, Impact & Evaluation\, Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) \nPanelists\nSarah Gillespie\, Interim Vice President\, Housing & Communities Division\, Urban Institute \nSarah Gillespie is interim vice president for the Housing and Communities Division at the Urban Institute. Her research focuses on housing and homelessness\, particularly examining how these issues intersect with criminal justice\, health\, and child welfare systems. She is leading a seven-year experimental evaluation of a supportive housing pay-for-success initiative in Denver\, targeting frequent users of emergency services and the criminal justice system. Her past research also includes the evaluation of the Denver supportive housing Social Impact Bond and an evaluation of the impact of expanding supportive housing on Medicaid use and costs in Colorado. \nSarah Hunter\, PhD\, Senior Behavioral Scientist at RAND Corporation \, Professor at the RAND School of Public Policy \nSarah Hunter\, PhD\, is a Senior Behavioral Scientist at RAND and Professor at the RAND School of Public Policy.  Hunter has extensive experience examining the link between housing and health\, including evaluations of initiatives in Los Angeles County\, the Inland Empire (CA)\, and Tucson\, AZ to provide supportive housing to people with chronic health conditions. Dr. Hunter also has extensive experience using HMIS\, Medicaid\, and other public data sources\, as well as collecting survey data on health and housing needs among unsheltered populations. Hunter is also trained as an implementation scientist and has studied how federal\, state and local policymaking influences the use of evidence-based practices and outcomes.  Her research has been featured in several media outlets including CNN\, Forbes\, Los Angeles Times\, New York Times and NPR. \nDan Treglia\, PhD\, Assistant Professor\, Rutgers Center for State Health Policy\, Department of Family Medicine and Community Health\, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School \nDan Treglia is an Assistant Professor at the Rutgers Center for State Health Policy and in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine.
